First Senator was the proposed executive position of the New Republic, that would have replaced the largely ceremonial Chancellor as the highest office in the New Republic. Intended as an influential and charismatic figure, the First Senator would have been tasked with bringing order to a divided Galactic Senate and have had increased powers over economic and military matters.
