Redweed was a type of fern native to the plains of the planet Dathomir that had multiple red fronds. The Singing Mountain Clan of the Witches of Dathomir used the fronds of the Redweed for their healing properties, while the Nightsister coven utilized them to cause harm.
In 1 ABY, during the Galactic Civil War, the Dathomirian witch Rubina asked a spacer to infiltrate either the Singing Mountain Clan or the Nightsisters, which resulted in the individual gathering Redweed fronds.
