Fern (plant)

A fern was a type of plant. Types of fern included amber ferns, Blood Razor ferns, bull-ferns, climbing ferns, Dantooine ferns, feather ferns, glass-ferns, Jovarian sun ferns, kata-wata, razor ferns, shag ferns, singing ferns, splinter ferns, and tentacle ferns. There were thousands of species of ferns on the planet Joralla. At least one type of ferns was violet in color.

Ferns and lichens were the dominant form of vegetation in the mediocre soil of the Deep Core planet Byss. Ferns even grew on the surface of the toxic, garbage-covered planet of Raxus Prime.

Fern-trees, plants found on the planet Duroon, were similar to ferns. Ferns shared their name with crystal ferns, possibly silicon-based crystalline life-forms, and fern bickers, a species of bipedal creature living on the planet Kashyyyk.

Besides growing in wilderness, ferns were also grown in-doors, such as in the Jungle Vault club on the planet Vaynai, in Administrator Senior Lob Doluff's office on the asteroid Oseon 6845, and in gardens on Ithorian Herdships.
