Equipment (short story)

"Equipment" is a short story written by Matthew Stover. It was originally published in the Star Wars: Short Story Collection in July 2003. Equipment was offered as a free download on StarWars.com, and was also later included in the paperback edition of Shatterpoint, written by Matthew Stover and published by Del Rey in April 2004, and the republishing in 2021 as part of The Essential Legends Collection. An unabridged recording is included in the unabridged audiobook.

The story is "a personal account of the sub-orbital action at Haruun Kal, as reported by Auxiliary Heavy-Weapons Specialist CT-6/774."

It explains the clone troopers' motto, "Take care of your equipment, and your equipment will take care of you." This motto comes to fruition when, even after their LAAT/i gunship has been destroyed, they use what resources they have left to fight to the end.
