The Combat Engineer Battalion, also called the Combat Engineers Battalion or just the Engineer Battalion, was a battalion of clone engineers. The unit was part of the Grand Army of the Republic's 38th Armored Division. Stationed on the planet Kashyyyk and serving under the command of Jedi Master Yoda, the troops of the battalion were sent where needed to act as armored ground support for heavy artillery units to work on machinery such as tanks and turbolasers. The battalion was used by the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars, which began in 22 BBY.

By 20 BBY, a contingent of engineers from the Combat Engineer Battalion led by Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi, Jedi Commander Ahsoka Tano, and Clone Sergeant Gaffa took part in a skirmish aboard the freighter Twilight, during which they took parts from an inoperable battle tank and created a missile firing battle platform to win the fight. The Combat Engineer Battalion's service would continue to the end of the war in 19 BBY, when the unit was issued Order 66 by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine, marking all Jedi as traitors to the Republic.
