The Coruscant Planetary Defense Force (PDF) was a detachment of the New Republic Defense Force. It was charged with the duty of defending the capital Coruscant, a task which included manning the orbital defense platforms above the planet and setting up ground defenses.
Carlist Rieekan was called out of retirement in 27 ABY to command the defense force during the Yuuzhan Vong War. During the Battle of Coruscant, the PDF was mostly wiped out along with many of its counterparts in the Coruscant Security Force.
