The Nikto Horoth Gendi formed his own gang upon being given control of the Nikto Sector, a region of the moon of Nar Shaddaa, by his Hutt master. Gendi used his gang to free himself from servitude, and the gang was the first in a line of Nikto gangs that controlled the district for years afterward.
