The Imperial Space Control was a department of the Galactic Empire responsible of issuing official permits for the installation of weaponry on non-military starships.
After a request for the obtainment of a permit was made in one of the various Imperial Space Control offices found in the galaxy, the office decided to grant or deny it depending on the background and criminal record of the applicant and the grade of the weapon requested, with turbolasers being outright prohibited from being mounted on private vessels under normal circumstances.
