The Provisional Council of the Alliance of Free Planets was the interim governing body of the Alliance of Free Planets during the transition to the New Republic. The Provisional Council had an extremely short lifespan, existing during the time when the Alliance to Restore the Republic reorganized itself into the New Republic. During this time, the Provisional Council released the Declaration of the Alliance of Free Planets, a document that was followed only four weeks later by the Declaration of a New Republic.
Members of the Provisional Council included Mon Mothma of Chandrila, Leia Organa of Alderaan, Kerrithrarr of Kashyyyk, Doman Beruss of Corellia, Jenssar SoBilles of Duro, Borsk Fey'lya of Kothlis, Verrinnefra B'thog Indriummsegh of Elom, Gial Ackbar of Dac, and Sian Tevv of Sullust. There were also members of the Ithorian and Sedrian species on the Council.
