Tofen's Raiders
Canon Legends version → Linked from 7 articles
Tofen's Raiders were a starfighter unit formed around the Clone Wars. They joined the Confederacy of Independent Systems against the Galactic Republic, and they were incorporated into the Separatist Navy. With elite Tempest Zero starfighters, the pilots operated numerous sorties in northern Separatist territories on behalf of their allies. Led by ace pilot Tofen Vane, they were fiercely loyal the Separatists and Count Dooku's cause. Famed for their ace pilots and engineers, these pilots were considered incredibly skilled. The Republic believed Tofen's Raiders were headquartered on Valahari.
Between 21 BBY and 19 BBY, Tofen's Raiders entered a skirmish with Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, during which the Jedi's starfighter had experienced technical problems. Kenobi recounted the skirmish to Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker in a battle with the Separatist fleet, when the latter wanted to keep Kenobi out of piloting operations. As they primarily used droids, organic forces were not commonly seen in the Confederacy military around the start of the war. However, over time the Separatist Senate convinced many to join the Raiders and other forces, and by the Outer Rim Sieges were more often seen in combat.
In 19 BBY, an entry on Tofen's Raiders was written by ARC trooper Muzzle and published in the survival compendium "Neyo's Almanac of Clankers." Muzzle warned clone troopers about Tofen's Raiders exceptional skills, saying they treated their ships like extensions of their own bodies.
