The CM-9 was a type of concussion missile used by the New Republic during the Black Fleet Crisis.
CM-nines were tube-launched weapons carried by capital ships. The heavy cruiser Indomitable had at least three launch tubes on each flank of the hull, while the smaller but more attack-oriented Warrior-class gunship Vanguard had launchers at the bow and stern, and could launch at least eight CM-nines in a single rapid-fire attack.
Although the various tubes launched their missiles in different directions, CM-nines were designed to steer around so that they could be used against targets in any direction, and the fact that they took separate routes to target, combined with their fast speed, also made it much more difficult for opponents to intercept them.
However, the missiles could also be dangerous to the ships that carried them. Nearby hull damage could cause a launcher failure, which in turn could ignite an internal fire, as happened aboard the Vanguard.
The CM-9 designation was evidently part of the same series as the hardpoint-mounted CM-5s used by the BTL-S8 K-wing assault starfighter. During the Battle of ILC-905, the tough deflectors of a single Yevethan thrustship absorbed hits from seven CM-nines and nine CM-fives before they collapsed.
