The Command Articles, also known as the Expansionary Defense Fleet's charter, were a set of laws for the Chiss Ascendancy and the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet. The centerpiece of the Articles was the exploration of distant regions outside the Ascendancy and search for potential threats to the Chiss species. The Articles allowed a Chiss commander to board a foreign starship.
