Command control voice

Command control voice was a system of voice-pattern recognition used to control droids, and could be utilized to input Command Control Instructions. Prior to the Battle of Tatooine, Captain Raymus Antilles designated the Princess Leia Organa a command control voice for the droids R2-D2 and C-3PO. The princess used this authority to give R2-D2 instructions to safeguard the stolen Death Star plans and deliver them to General Obi-Wan Kenobi on the surface of the planet. Artoo understood these instructions to be his "mission" and overcame numerous obstacles until they were fulfilled.
