Compensator computer

A compensator computer was a piece of technology that worked to backup and reroute starship systems when there is a problem.

When Khabarakh arrived on Honoghr during the Thrawn campaign in 9 ABY with Leia Organa Solo, Chewbacca and C-3PO aboard his fast-attack patrol ship, he managed to just deliver the recognition response code in time to the orbiting Imperial Star Destroyer Chimaera and managed to block the Chimaera sensor scan with his own ship's static-damping. In order to hide their subterfuge from the Imperial tech team that would later search his patrol ship, Chewbacca deliberately sabotaged the transmitter coil, causing it to overload and backfeed into a dump capacitor, damaging several nearby circuits. The patrol ship's compensator computer then rebuilt the damaged pathway, but the bypass was too close to the static-damping command lines, forcing the resulting inductance surge to trigger the static-damper system itself.
