A cooling unit was a starship component that required energy cells to power it. It was used on Action VI transports. Turbolasers utilized cryogenic cooling units.

In 14 ABY, Jedi Jaden Korr became stranded on Blenjeel while on a mission. He successfully took another ship's energy cell and installed on his transport to power the cooling unit in order to get out of the planet.
