Meteorite storms or meteorite showers were celestial events in which meteorites descended through a planetary atmosphere and struck the ground, resulting in a dangerous hail of burning space rocks. Imperial propaganda proclaimed that the destruction of Tantive IV resulted from a critical failure of the shift shields during a meteorite storm.
