Novastar Corporation was a company that specialized in the production of navigation computers, such as the L-17A Quikjump, as well as upgrades.

Several rumors surrounded the company, including one belief that the Novastar was secretly developing a nav computer that could be used without an astromech droid, aiming to sell it a high price to the Galactic Empire; in reality, the Empire would simply seize the whole corporation to get hands on the technology.

Another rumor suggested that the corporation had secretly acquired debris of fallen TIE/LN starfighters for the conducting of experiments.

The company reached the height of its success during the reign of the Galactic Empire.
