Overlord was the title held by leaders or high-ranking individuals within various organizations.
In the Pre-Republic era, Overlord (Kral) was the title of the political leader of the planet Shikaakwa. Overlord (Sith'ari) was a title chosen by the Sith King Adas of Korriban. Xim the Despot also held the title of overlord.
During the Imperial Era, Overlord was a rank of governor in the Galactic Empire. The title was also held by several officers of the Death Watch during the Galactic Civil War. The leader of the Rak'qua tribe was also known as an overlord. Lord Malameu Toda of Tammuz-an used the title of "overlord of the outer territories." After the Battle of Endor, Moruth Doole wore the title of overlord as he ruled the planet Kessel.
When not used as a formal title, the term overlord was sometimes used to designate powerful crime lords. Moreover, the designation of overlord was frequently used to qualify the Hutts as they control entire worlds and dominate their inhabitants while being crime lords and slavers at the same time.
