Radiation storm

Radiation storms, also known as radiation fields and radiation belts, were a natural phenomenon that occurred in space. Starships used their sensor arrays to avoid radiation fields, as they were known to vary in intensity and could damage or outright destroy ship systems regardless of shields. The Bank of the Core's GCC-1000 was specifically designed to be resistant to radiation storms.
