Rim

The Rim was a colloquial term, somehow pejorative, used to designate the most rimward regions of the galaxy, namely the Expansion Region, the Mid Rim and the Outer Rim Territories. The concept of Rim was commonly used in opposition to the Greater Core, best known simply as the Core, another colloquial term that designated the most coreward regions of the galaxy, including the Core Worlds, the Colonies and the Inner Rim. Although the distinction between the Core and the Rim had never been formally recognized, it had large cultural and political implications throughout galactic history.
