Welding torch

A welding torch, or blowtorch, was a device used in the repair of starships. When in use they gave off a crackling sound. The former Jedi Padawan Cal Kestis used welding torches at high altitude to break ships apart while working as a rigger in hiding on the planet Bracca during the Great Jedi Purge. At Echo Base, the Rebel Alliance's secret base on the ice planet Hoth, First Sergeant Hazram Namir and the special forces soldier Kryndal used welding torches to heat up power converters which had suffered internal icing. One type was called a plasma welder.
