Xenosociologists, also known as sociologists, studied alien species and their culture. The field of study was known as xenosociology.
Xenosociologists endeavoured to introduce "civilization" to the Gamorreans. All attempts to do so met with disaster. However, xenosociologists studying the Gamorreans noted that several large clan-towns had begun to sub-divide into sub-clans while still considering themselves part of the same overall clan. Debates in xenosociological circles wondered if this development heralded potential change within Gamorrean society or if the towns were destined to collapse in on themselves due to population and social pressures.
Xenosociologists studying the Stenax in the aftermath of the Stenax Massacres noted that large numbers of them settled on Belderone and Kulthis. They avoided contact with the Human settlers and it was unknown why they were interested in those worlds. Given the behavior of the Stenax, the sociologists warned that a repeat of the Stenax Massacres was a possibility.
A xenosociologist working for the New Republic rediscovered the colony on Eol Sha. The sociologist submitted a report that recommended the colony's immediate evacuation from the world due its tandem moon that would eventually collide with Eol Sha and destroy it. The report also contained mention of one of the original colonists, a woman named Ta'ania, who was an illegitimate descendant of a Jedi, and the current leader of the colonists, a man named Gantoris who had the uncanny ability to sense groundquakes. The sociologist's report was enough for Luke Skywalker to suspect Gantoris was Force-sensitive and a potential recruit for his fledging Jedi Praxeum.
