Alderaan's archipelago continent

An archipelago continent was located on the Core Worlds planet Alderaan. The continent was carpeted in a layer of whitish stone that was often used as gravel on the world during the Republic Era. By that time, the stone was considered a precious gemstone by the Rodian species due to the wavelengths it evoked.

In 40 BBY, gemstone thieves Rahara Wick and Pax Maripher visited the Alderaan continent to smuggle a load of the stone off-world to the Outer Rim planet Rodia aboard their Gozanti-class cruiser, the Meryx. After departing, the pair reflected on the stone they had taken from the area. In 1 BBY, Alderaan was annihilated by the Galactic Empire's Death Star battle station.
