The Umbaran boy Niv Drendow Apruk attended a school for young geniuses in his youth. Between around 243 BBY and 242 BBY, when Apruk was five years old, the Ithorian scientist Baron Boolan found him in the school. Immediately recognizing the Umbaran as a super genius in the field of demented biological research, Boolan took him to the Kharvashark Ruins on the Outer Rim Tarabba sector moon Vrant Tarnum where he taught Apruk how to nurture his love for science. In 228 BBY, the Umbaran mentioned his time in the school to Jedi Master Emerick Caphtor when the two traveled to the Kharvashark Ruins to investigate the origins of the Force-consuming Nameless creatures.
