Palmo

Palmo was the capital city of the Colonies planet Ghorman. Often described as peaceful and elegant, buyers and fashion designers from across the galaxy would visit the city to tour the showrooms, brokerages, and twilleries located there. Much like the rest of Ghorman, the city suffered under the reign of the Galactic Empire, with Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin landing his cruiser on five hundred civilians in the Tarkin Massacre in 19 BBY. With the city continuing to serve as the capital under the new Empire, the city became major hotspot of resistance as Imperial rule continued during the Suppression of Ghorman. When tensions on Ghorman reached a breaking point following the empire landing mining equipment to gouge mine the planet for the rare mineral kalkite, thousands of the city's residents descended onto Palmo Plaza in protest, only to be mowed down by imperial troops in what became known as the Ghorman Massacre. By 1 BBY, Ghorman, along with Palmo, was considered virtually destroyed.
