Southern Underground

The Southern Underground was a section of the Coruscant Underground. It was located near Coruscant's south pole. The Southern Underground was also the location of a block that contained the Soft Heart Cantina, which burned down.

The Southern Underground was perhaps one of the few places where the planet's original bedrock could be accessed, because of its very ancient tunnels.

The dank atmosphere smelled of old machinery, rotting flesh and waste. As no natural light, or infrastructure, reached the underworld, the Underground had an eternal twilight, illuminated by the outcasts's firepits, as well as maintenance lights that often sputtered. Glow-fungus also contributed to the grim atmosphere.

Walls were covered by mold, fungi and graffiti, made by grease or blood, smeared by crazy doomsayers, homeless vandals or gangs marking their territory. In turn, the older graffiti were blurred by sludge and liquid which leaked from maintenance systems in the levels above, or condensation blowing into lower altitudes. Sludge gathered to the ground and formed pools.

The "economy" of the Southern Underground seemed to rely on exchange of services for equipment, food, or even shelter.
