Abatrang was a planet occupying the seventh orbital position around the star Atrig in the Atrig system, which was part of the Inner Rim. It was an uninhabitable gas giant with eighteen moons and had an ammonia atmosphere. The area of space near Abatrang was among the sites where "carrion eaters," a group of pirates who posed a threat to individuals operating as scavengers, were active.
