A white dwarf was a type of dwarf star. They formed at the end of a small to medium star's lifespan. When they became very cold because of extreme age, they no longer gave off detectable light or heat, appearing black. This process took billions of years.
As Darth Vader used precognition to guide the Chimaera to reach the Grysk base of operations before the Grysk did, he saw a white dwarf star directly ahead and adjusted the ship's course. Another white dwarf in the galaxy was Ardos.
