The blackback was an elusive forest-dwelling bird of prey that lived in the Hanna Wild Game Reserve and other protected regions on the planet Chandrila. The birds were a popular hunting prize, though they were well-protected by the Chandrilan government after their near-extinction. Blackbacks' diet consisted of squalls and other small rodents, which they sometimes hunted while circling thermal vents.
