Gorryl slug

Gorryl slugs, also called protoplasmic slugs, were large, carnivorous slugs indigenous to the forests of the planet Kashyyyk. They were usually 1.5 meters long and could grow to a length of 2.5 meter and had brown skin and purple eyes on stalks. Gorryl slugs would usually calmly slither on the branches of the second levels of the larger wroshyr trees, grazing on small mites and other organisms in the tree's bark. The gorryls could be relatively quick for their size and if provoked, would raise it's body and "stand up" to appear threatening and would attack by smothering their opponents. Their stomachs could digest prey the size of one larger individual. Gorryl slugs were also highly resistant to damage and as such most creatures of Kashyyyk avoided them if angered due to their relentlessness and difficulty to kill.

They also hung from tree branches, waiting to fall upon prey below. Wrapping its body around the prey, a slug would smother its prey and exude digestive juices, dissolving its prey to absorb nutrients. It was not only surely lethal to be attacked and slowly eaten by this creature, but it was extremely slow and painful. Most of the creature's deadliness came from the fact that it was nearly impossible to remove from its prey once it had attached itself. The slugs, usually brown in color, were excellently camouflaged against the wroshyr trees on which they lived.

Although usually seen as visually disgusting, the gorryl slugs were considered to taste pleasantly and were at one point harvested and eaten as delicacies throughout the galaxy.

Jacen Solo once enlisted a giant slug to defend his group of young jedi from Zekk and his Shadow Academy stormtroopers. The slug was unaffected by several blaster bolts and was able to knock several stormtroopers off a tree, sending them to their deaths on the forest floor below.
