The Gregonian salamander was a type of fire-resistant salamander from the Expansion Region's Gregonia system. In 1 ABY, the Shi'ido geneticist Mammon Hoole attempted to trap the bounty hunter Boba Fett in the engine room of his starship, the Shroud. However, Fett fired a wrist rocket from his suit's wrist rocket launcher at the ship's ion drive, which caused an explosion. In response to the flames, Hoole shape-shifted into a Gregonian salamander. Afterward, Hoole told his adoptive son, Zak Arranda, that had he not morphed into a Gregonian salamander, the flames would have killed him.
