Lava ants were a type of ant associated with the molten rock lava. In 228 BBY, the Arkanian Galactic Republic Lieutenant Visma Tarko, who was in the midst of fighting against several scav droids of the Nihil marauder organization during the Battle of Eriadu, recollected the droids' purpose in ambushing and bisecting non-Nihil starships within the Occlusion Zone, an area of space controlled by the Nihil. Tarko ultimately compared the droids to scurrying lava ants reducing a carcass "one meter after another."
