Scav droid

Scav droids were a type of droid utilized by the Nihil marauder organization during the High Republic Era. Designed by Zeetar, a Nihil and engineer who became one of the group's three Tempest Runners, scav droids were used in the pirates' raids to collect loot. The droids had crablike bodies and manipulator arms, with which they dismantled machinery. The Nihil employed scav droids on Rekelos, during an attack on the Cyclor Shipyards, and an attack on the Republic Fair on the planet Valo. Units deployed into ground operations were identified as ground scavs.

The scav droids were designed and engineered to dismantle, salvage, and steal whatever the Nihil needed. Former Tempest Runner Pan Eyta also made use of scav droids, made out of older models of droids due to being low on resources, in the crew he led after being betrayed by Eye Marchion Ro and fellow Runner Lourna Dee. Despite their primary purpose for disassembly, the slicer Quin Carree was able to force scav droids to repair technology.

Scav droids were used throughout the Occlusion Zone to enforce Nihil rule and cut through non-Nihil starships. Many scav droids were used in the Battle of Eriadu, seeing use in the ground battle of Eriadu City against the Republic Defense Coalition and Eriaduans and in the space battle. In the latter, H'Tar's use of the Fear Engine caused Republic forces to perceive them as giant Nameless, exogorths, summa-verminoths, and colossus wasps.

An associate of Deva Lompop deployed a group of scav droids to disassemble a pair of TIE/IN interceptors that were disabled by an ion blast from the Vector Bundle above Hynestia.
