Nebalite

The Nebalites were a species of starfighter-sized sentient cephalopod. Nebalites had starships constructed that enveloped their bodies like suits of clothing. Grazdoc was a Nebalite trader who operated in a sector of the Unknown Regions and employed X-17-D, a small protocol droid who could not speak but could communicate through gestures, as an intermediary for face-to-face interactions.

At one point, Grazdoc's ship was pursued by a pirate gang but was rescued by a group of individuals that had been stranded in the Unknown Regions through the use of an experimental multiphase hyperdrive. Grazdoc was grateful for the rescue and proved himself a useful ally during the group's subsequent encounters in the sector.
