Pipe-bird

Pipe-birds were a type of bird with the ability to whistle. According to the maniacal ex-surgeon Cornelius Evazan, a dying princess in the Kingdom of Tion taught her pipe-bird to whistle her favorite song thousands of years before the Imperial Era. Other pipe-birds learned to mimic the princess' song and spread it throughout the galaxy over thousands of years.

Evazan recorded the story—which he considered to be bittersweet—for his partner Ponda Baba in an entry of the Smuggler's Guide logbook while it was in his possession at some point between 1 BBY and around 1 ABY. He claimed that every time Baba heard a pipe-bird, it was as if a princess sung to him from beyond the grave. Evazan used this to emphasis his desire for immortality.
