Renan bloodwolf

Renan bloodwolves were a predatory species native to the planet Rena. Imperial Governor Wilek Nereus once captured a bloodwolf as part of his collection of dental specimens. Mountain ranges above the Renan vineyards were home to this species, which stood just under a meter tall at its shoulder. Its two pair of slashing teeth were abnormally large compared to its skull. These creatures had long dense fur, silvery and mottled in broad patches for camouflage. Mature bloodwolves' tooth enamel was a dusky red-brown caused by iron deposits in the outer layer. Bloodwolves fed on spiny hordzats and hunted banthas in packs.

This predator was revered by Pipunt people, who called it the "Great Beast Prince". Renan bloodwolves were known to fiercely protect their young. The brood-fathers of packs could fight to death to protect their offspring — or, when it looked a more secure way to save a cub, could take it into their jaws and run from danger at a speed up to eighty kilometers per hour (though sometimes during such escapes cubs got killed in their powerful jaws by accident).
