Velkers were a predatory species native to the gas giant Bespin. They traveled in flocks and preyed upon the giant floating beldons that inhabited the planets lower atmosphere, feasting on the creatures buoyant flesh which attracted carrion-eating crab gliders. During the Iron Blockade of the Anoat sector, Nogba Quush hired the Smuggler to eliminate a few of Bespin's Imperial patrols, saying the population would blame the velkers.
