Pride of Stars

The Pride of Stars was a starship in the service of the Galactic Empire during its early years. It was commanded by the decorated Imperial Navy captain Ran Niall, who implicitly trusted his bridge crew.

At one point, the Pride of Stars visited the Imperial shipyards in the orbit of the planet Dac for routine maintenance and crew leave. During his leave on the planet's surface, Niall witnessed Imperial stormtroopers executing a group of protesting local shopkeepers, an event that shook the captain to his core and made him vow to find a more honorable government on whose behalf to fight. While the Pride of Stars was undergoing repairs, Niall decided to strike out with the vessel, and his crew did not hesitate to join his rebellion. Niall eventually became a general with a resistance group based on the planet Arda I, although the Pride of Stars itself was at one point scuttled by turbolaser fire from an Imperial assault corvette.
