Salon pod

Salon pods were detachable pods used for diplomatic meetings, and were situated on Consular-class space cruisers and Republic frigates. On standard Consular-class cruisers, the pod was located directly underneath the bridge, and was completely shielded from surveillance and armored against attack. The pods possessed a holoprojector, conference table, and its circumference was lined with couches.

The pods could eject in emergency situations, where they had limited autonomous flight capabilities, able to reach any planet in the star system of origin in a matter of days. The pod's piloting station was hidden within a couch, and provided a pilot with access to rudimentary sensors, communications, and flight operation systems. Paraphernalia within the pod were stowed beneath the deck plating after ejection, and the couches could be converted into crash couches during a possible atmospheric re-entry.
