The Tormentor was an Imperial-class Star Destroyer that was scheduled to meet a supply convoy (four BFF-1 bulk freighters of group Monru) at Udnil II during Imperial Operation: Clean Sweep. The supply operation came under attack by Rebel forces consisting of X-wings, Y-wings and A-wings as backup. At the time, the Tormentor was not carrying its standard complement of starfighters. Instead, it deployed TIE Avengers to intercept the attack.
