Checkpoint gate

A checkpoint gate was a type of laser gate used to prevent transit of vehicles and beings. It consisted on two projectors that when active run three powerful laser beams that were powerful enough to cut clean through stormtrooper armor.

The Galactic Empire had started using the gates by 9 BBY, with one in use at a checkpoint on the Mid Rim planet Mapuzo. The Empire continued to use them at imperial checkpoints through the Imperial Era on the Outer Rim planets Akiva and Tatooine as well as the moon Toshara.
