Data rods, also known as datarods, datastick, or memory rods, were devices designed for scanning and storing vast quantities of data. They were handheld, cylinder-shaped, and had red and gold accents. Although some were small datachips.

Clone Force 99 utilized one to activate the head of a tactical droid. While Tech hacked the droid to activate the battle droids, he also downloaded a copy of the information, which Hunter gave the data rod to the Martez sisters Trace and Rafa.

Prior to the Cold War, Resistance spy Kazuda Xiono stole a datarod from MB-13A. Looking at the data rod, they saw a star map of the galaxy. Jarek Yeager speculated that the red dots on the map were First Order fleets.
