Star map

A star map, also called a star chart, was a map used to show the locations of celestial objects within a galaxy. The maps could be represented in a two-dimensional form or as a three-dimensional hologram and were used in astrogation, naval operations, and governmental logistics. The Jedi Order maintained many star-charts which showed the location of legendary Force vergences, though by the time of the Galactic Empire, many of the known vergence star-charts were clever fakes. Authentic star-charts that were recovered during the era were thousands of years old, rendering them nearly impossible to interpret. Cartographers were individuals who explored and mapped space, selling their star maps to travelers and governments. The Nav Guild was involved in recording and releasing star maps.
