They were used to assure privacy, creating a two-meter zone of silence through which normal sound could not pass. Disruption bubble generators were marketed to music-lovers as a way to enjoy music without disturbing anyone else around them. However, due to its usefulness, disruption bubble generators were favored by thieves and Alliance SpecForce Infiltrators.

Disruption bubble generators were used on the planet Bakura. Audio Performance Incorporated manufactured the Sheer Silence Bubble Generator.
