The warriors of the Grysk species' military used explosive armor to protect their bodies and destroy them when the armor's self-destruct mechanism was activated—by the wearer or their death—so that their opponents could not study them. Around 18 BBY, the Grysk soldiers on the Unknown Regions planet Sunrise wore the armor during a battle against the Chiss Ascendancy and the Paccian Governance. The armor's explosions killed many Grysk soldiers and, as a result, the battle was over quickly.
