JR-8 series maintenance droids were all-purpose janitor units constructed to clean, refurbish, and perform light repairs. They were equipped with an internal cleaning fluid reservoir and integrated spray nozzle, and they were known to spray detergent at individuals who interfered with their tasks.
Multiple JR-8 series droids were employed by Temporary Droids, a droid rental company on the planet Kashyyyk. Company president Turren Lonarr used twenty-four of these droids to spray flame beetle pheromone on the landing pad of a starship belonging to a group of spacers that were investigating his activities.
