Legends. This article is part of Legends: the expanded-universe stories that Lucasfilm set apart from canon in 2014.

The M-40 "Thunderbolt" was a model of light repeating blaster. Produced by Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc., the blaster rifle could fire a long-ranged distance. As a light repeating blaster, the weapon had a high rate of fire fed from a power magazine or a backpack-mounted power generator, was over two meters long, and also possessed a stun setting. Often carried by a support gunner with the required tools and training, legal purchase of such blasters was restricted to the Imperial Army, planetary defense forces, and private military contractors.

After the Battle of Yavin, a Rebel-Imperial conflict that occurred in 0 BBY, and during the Galactic Civil War, the "Thunderbolt" sold for 2,250 credits.
