Point-defense laser cannon

A point-defense laser cannon, also called a point-defense cannon when not a laser cannon, was a kind of starship emplacement, typically laser cannons, blaster cannons or light ion cannons, that were used to defend large capital starships against smaller starfighters. Point-defense cannons were also used to defend against missiles. Adumari Meteor-class Aerial Forts had their laser cannons optimized for shooting down incoming missiles in this way.

Vindicator-class heavy cruisers were armed with point-defense laser cannons and point-defense light ion cannons.
