Members of the Melitto species used special survival devices when leaving their homeworld of Li-Toran. These devices let them breathe toxic compounds matching those found on Li-Toran that they needed to survive. The survival devices could also distilled a sweet-smelling liquid from local foodstuffs that simulated the bleeding-rock sap that was the primary component of Melitto's liquid-only diet.
