A storm barrier generator was installed on Gavos, a planet located in the Hutt Space, in order to protect miners against sand storms and acid rains. Sometime after the Battle of Yavin, EV-8D3, an EV-series supervisor droid, tried to kill the miners by destroying the storm barrier generator to spread throughout the galaxy its New Droids' Rights Movement, a violent rebellion against organic life forms.
